INSIGNIFICA

(and some not so insignifica)

I'll add to this page as fast as I can think of stuff to put here.

I know a LOT of people (hey - I'm a friendly guy!), but I have a very small number of very close friends that are almost like brothers and sisters to me.  They're spread out all over now - Barbados, New York, Texas, Boston, and of course Trinidad.

People who send along chain e-mails should be shot.

I read.  A lot.  Always reading something - often more than one book at a time.

Black lace teddies - do it for me EVERY time!

After 7 years of 'forced' masses and confessions in secondary school, I'm about all religioned out.  I do believe there's a God - but whether He/She/Your Pronoun Of Choice is being represented by one group of people down here?  I don't know about that......

Love team sports, like football (the REAL football, where you actually kick a ball with your feet) cricket and baseball.  Don't have one iota of skill on a playing field.  None.  Zero.  Nada.

Guilty pleasure - old Sesame Street songs and skits.  Stuff I grew up with, like Ernie and Bert's rhyming game (Hey there lamp!  That's a nice shade...........you.")  And I know all the words to "Lower Case N" and "We All Live In A Capital I"!

Here's one of my favorite subjects - movies!  These are the movies I can watch over and over:

Monty Python And The Search For The Holy Grail   ("Your mother was a hamster, and your father smelled of elderberries!")

The Star Wars Trilogy (especially The Empire Strikes Back)

The Matrix

Monty Python's Life of Brian ("How shall we f**k off, O Lord?")

Saving Private Ryan

Ghostbusters ("This chick is toast!")

Dead Poets Society

Caddyshack ("You'll get nothing and like it!")

American Beauty ("I rule!")

Ferris Bueller's Day Off (the man is my hero. Well, after Mom.....)

Schindler's List

Braveheart (it's got everything - love, honor, betrayal, great fights, limbs getting hacked off, AND a gratuitous boob shot!  What more do you want?)

The Color Purple (that Spielberg guy!)

Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (ditto)

L.A. Confidential

P.C.U. (I know PCU and Schindler's List shouldn't be in the same category, but that movie cracks me up every time I see it.  And it's got George Clinton and the P-Funk All Stars in it.)

Guilty pleasure - 80s music

I've worn some sort of 'corrective lenses' since I was eight.  (See?  You DO go blind!)

I get migraines.  Pretty bad ones sometimes.

Here's a quote - "I am not the same, having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world."  I have this quote framed and on my wall.  Travel.  Live somewhere else.  It's wonderful.  Seeing places like Yosemite, taking a walk during a snowstorm and realizing that you can't hear one thing (a big thing for an island guy!), and losing yourself in the humanity of a big city - these things broaden the mind.

Pizza, good beer, cheap Chinese food, good wine, buffalo wings, bananas, roti (Trini Indian food), pad thai, peanuts (loaded with salt!), ribs (as a matter of fact, just bring the cow,  medium well), french fries.  I'll eat my veggies and exercise, but if they say I can't have these, you might as well kill me.

Women - to be loved, admired, respected, and even worshipped....but never understood.

I'll try anything twice.

Dave Matthews Band, Sade, Sting, David Rudder, The Mighty Shadow - and everything from Pink Floyd and Fleetwood Mac to Macy and Santana.

House, soca, electronica, soul (not R&B!  Too damn formulaic!).........everything except country.  And polkas.

Here's one most people don't know - I took my first darkroom class to get my mind off of a woman.  I figured getting out and doing something sure as hell beat staying home and moping.  Thought it would be a good way to meet women too - and get back into the game.  Well, that part bombed  - but it started my fascination with photography......and the rest, as they say, is history.

As a result of spending 3 years in the Boston area, I'm now the only person in Trinidad that follows Red Sox baseball.

The greatest movie ever made?  'Monty Python and the Search for the Holy Grail'. In the words of the immortal Beetlejuice, "......and it keeps getting funnier, every, single, time I see it!"
